Hamish Christie-Johnston

Managing Director

Hamish Christie-Johnston was appointed as Managing Director of Penske Power Systems on 1st January 2017.  Hamish joined the company in August 2014 as Chief Sales Officer and Executive Team member responsible for leading our off-highway segments, including the engineering and marketing functions.

With broad experience working with global OEMs for most of his career – across the fields of industrial sales and marketing, as well as equipment and asset management within the mining, construction and power systems industries – Hamish has a strong understanding of the markets that we operate in.

Hamish maintains a far reaching and customer-focused vision for the business and believes that successful outcomes result when we understand and respond quickly to the needs of our customers. He has a successful track record developing teams and implementing improved processes based on this philosophy.

Likening his role to that of a coach – ensuring that his team has the understanding, skills, and execution required to drive successful outcomes – Hamish has deep business planning experience within our markets, as well as strong leadership, communication and relationship-building skills.

Hamish holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Melbourne University, an MBA from the University of Canterbury (Christchurch) and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Jim Livermore

Chief Operations Officer

As Chief Operations Officer, Jim Livermore is responsible for Penske Power Systems’ comprehensive branch network operations, incorporating off-highway product and technical support, as well as all operations business improvement functions.

Jim is active in developing new business opportunities that build on customer relationships, driving efficiency and profitability for the business by setting challenging targets. Together with his team, Jim frames strategies to achieve goals based upon the sharing of best practice across Penske Power Systems’ operations network.

Continuously working to expand the technical capabilities of his team to mirror advancements in Penske Power Systems’ world-class product portfolio, Jim is focused on delivering customer service excellence that’s both sustainable and profitable.

As an active member of the Executive team, Jim has provided guidance and direction for Penske Power Systems’ viability, in line with its vision and guiding values, for several years now.

Jim holds an Associate Diploma in Electrical Engineering and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management, and is currently an active member of MTU’s International Mining Council. He has previously served as the President of the NSW Superyacht Industry association (2009/10) and a committee member of the Australian Superyacht association (2011/13).

He joined Penske Power Systems in October 2001 as Branch Manager, Hunter Valley and has previously worked for: Komatsu Australia Pty Ltd, General Electric Industrial Systems, Hamersley Iron Pty Ltd.

Patricia Paquette

Chief Financial Officer

With more than a decade’s experience as a senior finance executive in the Penske group in the United States, and more recently in Australia, Patricia (Patti) Paquette is a Certified Public Accountant who also holds qualifications as a Chartered Global Management Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, and Certified Fraud Examiner.

Patti joined Penske Power Systems in February 2015 as Financial Operations and Planning Manager, providing critical financial analysis and support to the executive team as well as the business, state and branch managers. Key to this role was enhancing communications between the finance and operational business sectors.

In January 2016, Patti was appointed Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for governance, including risk management and internal controls to support the organisation in achieving its objectives.In her role, Patti facilitates organisational accountability and transparency, providing insight and analysis that supports the executive and senior management teams; she also serves as the company’s public officer. Developing effective partnerships with members of the leadership team, Patti works to create a common vision and view of organisational performance and opportunities.

In the US, Patti joined Penske Automotive Group in 2004 as Financial Controller, overseeing four automotive franchises and an accounting team of 13-plus staff, providing forecasting analysis and cash flow management, as well as individual and consolidated financial statement reporting.

In 2006, Patti took on the role of Internal Audit Manager for the group, planning and performing internal, compliance and SOX audits for 170 retail franchises. In this role Patti prepared and performed due diligence procedures and reports, and supported management with accounting and auditing procedures.

Patti is based in Penske Power Systems’ finance office at Chipping Norton.

Sean McLean

Director On-Highway

Sean McLean has more than 20 years of management experience, working with global OEMs and customers, dedicated to the development and application of diesel engines. A qualified mechanical engineer, Mr McLean has enjoyed career success across various technical and managerial roles.

He joined Penske Power Systems in September 2016 as Director of On-highway with a brief to grow our Detroit and Allison Transmission brand portfolios and market share.

Directing the on-highway team, Mr McLean oversees some 22 technical and sales experts dedicated to deliver genuine results to the customer through a renewed focus on product development and tailored solutions unique to local market.

He employs a collaborative management style, working with his team to deliver engineering innovation that’s driven by a passion for customer service.

Mr McLean has a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Business Administration, and is a member of the Truck Industry Council.

Immediately prior to joining Penske Power Systems, he was General Manager – Marketing and On-highway Products for Cummins South Pacific, with responsibility for on-highway business operations and promotion.

Matthew Smith

Director Off-Highway

Matthew Smith joined Penske Power Systems in March 2017 as Director Off-Highway responsible for overseeing sales, aftersales and engineering services.

Matthew has an extensive background in senior commercial and leadership roles in mining and related fields. With law and commerce qualifications, his career has spanned various legal and managerial positions.

Overseeing 62 staff, Matthew is passionate about developing high performing teams which provide innovative, profitable solutions. He also has a proven track record in executing strategies and building mutually beneficial relationships with customers.

Matthew has an honest and inclusive leadership style. He displays strong personal leadership to ensure that customers’ business drivers are understood and that we deliver on our promises.  He is also passionate about helping our people develop and grow for the future.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce from Bond University in Queensland.

Matthew comes to Penske Power Systems having most recently worked in senior management roles at Orica and Westrac.
